From the moment I contacted Geoffrey Millers Solicitors I immediately felt calmer and reassured. What was initially most impressive was a prompt call from Jeanette Miller herself, the owner of the business where she listened and showed understanding of my awful predicament. She found time in her own diary to see me very quickly, confirmed this appointment by email and had arranged allocated parking for me on my arrival. I cannot stress how this level of service and efficiency did help how I was feeling. Jeanette met with personally along with Patrick who had been recommended to me by a friend and was initially the reason I contacted this company. Jeanette is so immediately personable and professional, she clearly leads her company from the front and I was very impressed with her and the obvious service standards she has for her business. Patrick was superb, I went from having 7 speeding offences, a number of fails to furnish totting up to over 21 points, facing a certain court appearance and 6 month ban to just 6 points, no ban no court appearance. I cannot thank Patrick enough for the work he has done and the manner in which I was dealt, and Jeanette for being so immediately hands on. Very impressed and relieved.

Great outcome & lovely staff, only disappointment is to spend so much money on an obvious outcome & only able to fight to recover such a low amount even though acquitted & no trial. Not sure why legal aid based is mentioned, nothing about this was legal aid?

Had the trial gone ahead, if it had been adjourned I’d have had to pay a second trial fee but not being refunded for not going to trial in the first place is a little frustrating.

I do need to thank all for the outcome & letting me know. A pity it took the other side so long to come to the conclusion, a year since charges & only a week before trial date :/ I have to say that once the whole thing was in the hands of GM I felt I could sleep again at night. They managed to work out a way to make the fees more affordable too which helped & was much appreciated

I had 6 points on my license and faced a further 6 with a totting up ban.

I looked online and called a few solicitors who specialise in motoring offences. Jeanette was the most switched on and gave the best legal advice how to proceed. I felt confident instructing her. Our case handler was really thorough.

On the day we were represented by a great barrister who really calmed my nerves and “held” my hand throughout.

I got the best possible outcome in the circumstances and my plea of exceptional hardship was successful and I received a reduced fine.

Really pleased.

When I was issued with the paperwork to appear in court for a speeding/failing to furnish offence, I did not know what to do. After looking on the internet we came across Geoffrey Miller Solicitors. I rang with my enquiry and was appointed my solicitor. My solicitor handled everything brilliantly and took a lot of the stress and worry from my partner and I. He was extremely well organised and approachable and his communication was second to none.

I was charged as registered keeper in two separate cases for not responding to police requests for driver information for speeding offences. I was not the driver on either occasion and had not received the original police notices and hence the failure to respond. In the first case the driver was present on the court day and pleaded guilty to the speeding charge but the magistrate’s court did not accept the plea on the grounds that I was the defendant. I submitted a guilty plea (which was my mistake) by mail but stated that I did not receive the police notice. I was found guilty, fined, and my license endorsed with 6 penalty points. In the second case, also heard in a Magistrate Court where I was represented by my former solicitors, and the driver gave evidence – I was convicted, fined, license endorsed with a further 6 points and disqualified for 6 months. My former solicitors appealed the sentence but not the conviction in the first case taking the position that the conviction could not be appealed, as I had pleaded guilty even though the plea was submitted without any legal advice. On the second case although I pleaded not guilty it became clear during the hearing that the advocate retained by my former solicitor had not been adequately briefed. It was clear that on both occasions that the support from my earlier legal advisers was inadequate. I thereafter engaged Tara Boyle at Geoffrey Miller solicitors to assist me since not being able to drive caused serious disruption to my children’s education since we live in remote area not served by public transport. With Tara as my solicitor she first succeeded in getting the driving ban lifted as well as the first case reopened against the conviction and sentence and appealed against the conviction and sentence in the second case. Both cases were reheard in the Crown Courts and I was acquitted in both cases with the 12 points on my license cancelled.

From the outset I was extremely impressed with the immediate access I had to Tara who was handling my cases and on occasion Stephen and Jeanette whenever Tara was not available, all who spared no effort to answer my many questions promptly and prepare my defense diligently. Tara retained a first-rate advocate to represent me in court and he had received thorough briefings and was very supportive during two stressful days in Court. He effectively countered the arguments put up by the prosecutors thanks to the comprehensive background material put together by Tara. I am thankful for all their support during a traumatic few months and getting me acquitted, revoking the fines of more than GBP 2000, tax costs awarded and getting my license reinstated.

I would highly recommend Geoffrey Miller Solicitors in particular Tara Boyle without any hesitation.

When I originally instructed Geoffrey Miller Solicitors I was facing charges of failure to stop and report an accident and careless driving. I had to consider the possibility of totting up twelve points and serving a six months disqualification, community service or possibly even custody. I was terribly worried and stressed about it all. Geoffrey Miller Solicitors looked after my case. I found her to have a very professional and polite approach. She was very courteous. By the time of my hearing I was only facing a charge of failing to stop and report and was able to walk out of court with only a six weeks ban, enabling me to continue looking for employment in the transport sector. I do not think that there is anything that Geoffrey Miller Solicitors could have done better and the case was conducted great throughout.

Geoffrey Miller in the form of a paralegal Austin, supervised by Tara Boyle, left no stone unturned, their work was thorough, delivered in a timely manner, Austin was available all hours of day and night going well beyond the call of duty, and he kept me in the loop every step of the way, so his communication was simply beyond reproach.

I was very nervous about going to trial having never been in a dock before in my life, the thoroughness and attention to detail with multiple layers of defence helped me manage my anxiety enormously, and in spite off huge amounts of work being undertaken which was actually not used or needed on the day of trial because of the way things panned out, it gave me comfort to know everything that could be done had been done.

Geoffrey Miller are definitely not cheap, but if ever there was a case of you get what you pay for this firm in my view are the living example of that cliche, the service and the defence was first class.

What could easily have been an extensive ban (which would have been a miscarriage of justice) turned into 3 points and the minimum fine possible under the law. Thank you Austin, Tara and  my barrister.

“I was facing a possible 9 points, a heavy fine, a long ban due to totting up and even a Community order for hitting another vehicle whilst turning right on to a main road and failing to stop afterwards. The independent witness had stated that I had overtaken queuing cars to get to the junction and that I barged through and sped off regardless.

The solicitor took my details and explained the potential punishments, the influencing factors and the possible strategies which could be followed by my barrister. Options were explained and an approach was agreed upon. Letters of mitigation were drafted to try and reduced a ban to a couple of months and so I went to court hoping that the letters would be taken into account and I would be driving again soon.

The barrister followed the approach and skillfully showed that damage was light, no one was hurt and that this was in fact more a case of a momentary lapse of concentration from an otherwise good driver and a worthwhile member of society.

The Court gave me the minimum number of points, a lighter fine and I kept my license.

You may have made mistakes to end up in court but don’t make another one by instructing another firm.
