Should I wait until I have been charged?

Some solicitors may say it is premature for you to instruct them before you are charged with an offence. We STRONGLY disagree. Our input at this early stage could make the difference between a guilty or not guilty verdict! If you are not quick off the mark, vital evidence that could be central to your defence could be destroyed before your case comes before the court. We can guide you on whether we think you need us to be present with you when you go back to the police station or whether we should just be on standby at the end of the phone.

I thought I could have a free lawyer at the police station?

It is everyone’s right to have a solicitor present with them during a police station interview and the duty solicitor is provided to you free of charge. However, it is highly likely that the solicitor appointed under this free scheme will NOT be a specialist in motoring law.

Geoffrey Miller Solicitors have been instrumental in ensuring that serious allegations against our clients do not go beyond the police station interview stage or that once charged, we secure their acquittal. The downside of instructing us rather than relying on the duty solicitor is that you would have to pay for our representation at a police station interview but the following quote springs to mind:

What you get free costs too much.Jean Anouilh

By all means, rely on the duty solicitor if your finances will not stretch to involving us, but beware of the hidden costs of having a non-expert on your case. Take a look at our money saving calculator for more of an idea of the financial consequences of placing your case in the wrong hands and failing to achieve that not guilty verdict!

You are due to go back to the police station to be charged

If you have a date to return to the police station to be charged, (most common in drink driving cases where a blood or urine sample has been taken instead or in addition to a breath test,) our involvement BEFORE charge could be key to the outcome of your case.

We can ensure that the police are not planning on interviewing you and will be at the end of the phone to guide you through any unforseen questions or circumstances that arise when you are there.

Most importantly, we can ensure steps are taken to preserve evidence and get a head start on preparing your case before you are due to appear in court.

You are due to go back to the police station to be interviewed

We can arrange to be at the police station interview with you for a fixed fee. depending on the circumstances of your case, our guidance option may be more cost effective. This would be where we arrange for you to have a solicitor under the free scheme present with you at the police station interview but they liaise with us by telephone to ensure that you are advised in accordance with our specialist knowledge and strategy.

Not Sure What to Do?

Most people who get in touch with our team of motor offence expert solicitors are uncertain of their options. They are unaware of any legal defences that may be available and find it difficult to believe that it might be possible to defend the drink driving offence charge they face by using loopholes that apply to the rich and famous! We do represent celebrities but we also represent many hardworking motorists like Brian and we want to help you make the right choice about what you do next.

We are always more than happy to chat things through with potential clients Free of Charge. Call us now on Freephone 0800 1389 123 to speak to one of our specialist police station interview solicitors. It is only once you decide to instruct us that payment will become necessary and we can often arrange installment plans to assist you. Many satisfied clients have thanked us for offering this free consultation service as it has prevented them from following inaccurate non-expert advice which could have led to them accepting a driving ban unnecessarily.

If you would like to spend more time browsing on the site before you get in touch, make sure you have a look at our specialist motor offence guidance features such as our drink driving penalties calculator which will help you to determine the penalty you may face if convicted and our money saving calculator which helps to outline some of the hidden costs of accepting a conviction.

We think we are simply the best in the business but if you are not satisfied in taking our word for it, our unique “ask our clients” testimonials scheme allows you to contact previous clients of the firm to seek a completely independent reference about us and what we might be able to do for you.
